Chemicals in plastic packaging cause premature births

New York: A new study has identified chemicals used in food plastic packaging and personal care products as one of the possible causes of premature birth.

According to media reports, American researchers have recently proven that phthalates, which are known as very commonly available chemicals, have the ability to disrupt hormones in the body.

Additionally, these chemicals can affect the function of the placenta (the tube in the mother’s womb that transports oxygen and nutrients to the developing fetus).

Dr. Leonardo Trasande, director of environmental pediatrics at New York University Langone Health and lead author of the study, said that phthalate chemicals cause inflammation that further disrupts placental function, ultimately leading to preterm labor. Can be a reason to go.

Dr. Leonardo said studies show a strong link between phthalates found in food packaging and preterm labor. In our new study, we found that phthalates and three similar chemicals may be responsible for 5 to 10 percent of all preterm births, and that number is on the rise.
