Karachi: Due to the negligence of the teachers of government colleges in Karachi, the first batch of the newly launched associate degree program has not yet been able to graduate (pass out).
It has been three years since this program started, but there are dozens of teachers of government colleges who have not checked and handed over the exam copies of Associate Degree (Commerce, Arts and Science) to the University of Karachi, so their results have not been released.
The annual exams of the associate degree were conducted last year in September 2023 under the department of examinations in various colleges and university departments of Karachi and along with the conduct of the examinations, the examination copies were handed over to the concerned teachers, but the teachers remained sitting with these copies and checked the copies. Neither the results were handed over to the examination department of the University of Karachi.
According to a careful estimate, if not thousands, then at least more than a thousand students will be such young people who have not been able to continue their studies due to the non-promulgation of the results on time and despite their desire to obtain a four-year degree, they have failed in other universities including University of Karachi. S will not be able to take admission in the third year.
The University of Karachi has also started the session 2024 by completing these admissions, but the students waiting for the exam results of the associate degree have been deprived of going to this session.
When “Express” contacted Shahid Zaidi, Acting Director of Examinations of University of Karachi, he said that on the direction of the Vice Chancellor, we have issued notices to teachers who have taken the exam copies and are not releasing the results, after which the teachers have now released the results. Started sending.
On a question, Dr. Shahid Zaidi said that the solution to this problem is that these teachers should not be given exam copies for evaluation in the future. On the other hand, it has been learned from the sources of Karachi University Examination Department that the most delay has been done by the teachers of “English, Urdu and Islamic Studies”.
At least 2000 exam copies have not been checked by the concerned English teacher so far while 12000 exam copies were given to him.
It should be noted that in this regard, on January 3, 2024, the examination department sent a second reminder letter (reminder 2) to the teachers, in which, referring to the letter dated September 23, 2023 and the answer scripts of the subjects, it has been directed that the examination department should issue the examination results as soon as possible. It is bound to be issued, but due to their failure to check the answer scripts and hand them over to the departmental examinations, the results are constantly being delayed.
It is being told that the delay in the results has been caused by the teachers, in addition to English, Urdu, Islamic studies, studies of Pakistan, social work, economics, business communication, business and industrial law, banking and finance, principal of insurance, advanced accounting, principal of management. , Principal of Marketing and Economic Development of Pakistan subject teachers included.
The results of some of these subjects have been handed over to the University of Karachi a few days ago and some have not yet been received. He could not get admission due to non release of results by his own college teachers.
Sources told “Express” that University of Karachi has given “provisional admission” in BS third year only to those students based on the results of associate degree first year, who have passed all the exam papers of associate degree first year, however such The number of students was equal to the salt in the flour (about two and a half to three hundred).
There were also many students who had good first year results but for some reason if they were absent in any paper, they could not pass the associate degree first year and on that basis they could not get admission in BS third year as well.
It is to be noted that the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan has banned the two-year graduation “BCom, BA and BSc” across the country, after which the two-year associate degree was started.
This degree is not equivalent to graduation, but one level lower than it, and to complete graduation, the student will have to study for two more years from the university. Could not get immediate interpretation.
