Beijing: Video sharing application TikTok is encouraging users to add a shortcut to their device’s home screen.
Several studies have shown that Generation Z uses TikTok as an alternative to Google search. Search Aid has been introduced by the company last year.
The company is encouraging users to add a search page to their home screen to speed up the search process using shortcuts.
According to Tik Tok CEO Shao Chiu, Tik Tok has 170 million active users in the United States and nearly 2 billion worldwide.
It should be noted that the Tik Tok used in China already has a search feature that can be used to search for local businesses, restaurants, entertainment, etc. Even food can be ordered using this feature included in the app.
A Chinese TikTok called Dwayne is currently working on generative AI search that will help users find more things inside and outside the app.
