The Lahore High Court stopped the Election Commission of Pakistan from releasing the results of Constituency NA-128.
On the request of Salman Akram Raja, an independent candidate supported by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, the Lahore High Court stopped the Election Commission from releasing the results till February 12 and summoned Aoon Chaudhry and the Election Commission for the next hearing.
During the hearing, Justice Baqir Najafi asked the lawyer of the Election Commission whether the Returning Officer had come to the court, to which the lawyer said that his mobile phone was switched off and no contact could be made.
The lawyer of Election Commission objected to the application of Salman Akram Raja and said that this application is inadmissible, according to the law he should first file a complaint in the Election Commission.
He said that we have received form 47 according to which the petitioner has been defeated in constituency NA-128. Salman Akram Raja’s lawyer said that ours is not a request for counting of votes but an objection related to the collection of results and we have challenged the order of the Returning Officer and want a decision on it.
After hearing the arguments, the court adjourned the hearing, restraining the Election Commission from issuing the results of Constituency NA-128 and the notification of Aun Chaudhry’s success till February 12.
