Michigan: A new study has found that many people with an infection hide their illness in order to go to work, travel or social events.
According to a recent study, three out of every four people (75 percent) have hidden their infectious disease from others at least once.
The report, published in the journal Psychological Science, found that participants in the study reported hiding their illness by traveling on airplanes and engaging in other social activities, ignoring the risk of spreading the disease to others. .
Moreover, 75 percent of these people were also those who were associated with the health sector. Wilson Merrill, a doctor and lead researcher at the University of Michigan, said that most sick people hide their infectious disease as much as possible, no matter how harmful their disease is to others.
Wilson and his colleagues recruited more than 900 participants for the study, including 400 healthcare workers. 70% of these participants reported concealing their infectious disease symptoms.
Most of the participants said that they did so because many of their social activities would be affected if their disease was revealed. The rest of the participants said they did it to maximize overtime due to low pay.
