Karachi: Interboard Karachi Chairman and Commissioner Karachi attributed the bad results of Interyear 1 to the change of syllabus and lack of MCQs.
The controlling authority of education boards of Sindh, the Chief Minister of Sindh has taken notice of the controversial results of Karachi Board after 22 days and a meeting was held in this regard on Wednesday at the Chief Minister House in which the Caretaker Education Minister Sindh Rana Hussain Secretaries Universities and Boards. Noor Samun, Secretary Colleges Sadaf Shaikh, Secretary Schools Shireen Narejo, Acting Chairman Inter Board/ Commissioner Karachi Saleem Rajput Matriculation Board Karachi Chairman Professor Sharaf Ali Shah and other officers of the board participated.
In the meeting, Caretaker Chief Minister Sindh Justice (Rtd) Maqbool Baqir was provided with the data of Inter Board Karachi’s first year results of the last few years by the Chairman/Commissioner of Karachi and while giving a briefing on it, told Chief Minister Sindh that It was tried that there is no big difference between the recent and previous results of inter-year first science and other faculties.
The Chief Minister was told that the previous results are only 7 to 8 percent higher, which is due to the change in the syllabus in Sindh, new subject books and the percentage of MCQs in the examination papers is less than in the past.
Commissioner Karachi tried to give the impression to the Chief Minister of Sindh that after the covid the ratio of important CQs in the examination papers was increased to 40% due to which the ratio of results also increased and the results were 43 to 45%. While this time this ratio was reduced to 20% in the examination papers due to which the ratio of results also fell.
An officer who participated in the meeting told “Express” that the caretaker CM Sindh was not told by the current ad-hoc administration of the Inter Board that the ratio of MCQs in the examination papers was low even before the Covid but the ratio of the results. Even then, more than 40 percent lived.
According to the sources, Sindh Chief Minister was also told that so far more than 6 thousand scrutiny applications have been submitted to the board out of which 3 thousand have been examined under the scrutiny rules.
During the meeting, Chief Minister Sindh asked what we can do to get the students out of this problem, whether the results can be checked once, on which he was told that there is no scope in the calendar of the board, only the controlling authority. The provincial cabinet meeting can amend the blocker rules.
Meanwhile, the controlling authority issued a directive in this regard that the board should provide notifications for reducing and increasing the proportion of MCQs while also informing about the procedure for assigning papersetters, examiners and head examiners in the examinations. should be done
It was decided in the meeting that another meeting should be held soon in this regard so that a permanent solution to this problem can be reached.
