Electoral Commission successfully tests election management system for delivery of results

Islamabad: The Election Commission of Pakistan conducted a pilot exercise of using the Election Management System (EMS) which was successful and yielded useful and encouraging results.

According to a statement issued by the Commission Media Cell, offices of returning officers established at 859 locations across the country participated in this experimental exercise during which fiber, DSL connectivity, EMS app login, usage and transmission and editing of results were implemented. The steps were fully practiced and successfully completed transmission of results by Presiding Officers and editing of results by Returning Officers through EMS.

There was no problem during the exercise. Due to communication problems at a few places, some presiding officers also faced minor problems in the transmission of results which are being rectified immediately. Information about your vote will be available from January 29.

Officials of the Election Commission say that voters will need to bring a national identity card, they can vote on receipt of an expired identity card or token. Apart from this, the Election Commission has directed WAPDA not to carry out load shedding on the polling day on February 8 due to the fear of affecting the polling process due to load shedding.

Election Commission sources said that the WAPDA officials were informed in writing that WAPDA should refrain from the announced and unannounced load shedding across the country.
