Newcastle: A new study has found that energy drinks are linked to increased risks of behaviors such as anxiety, stress, depression, including violence and addiction in children.
According to researchers at the University of Newcastle in the UK, the study also found that increased consumption of energy drinks was associated with academic performance, sleep problems and unhealthy eating habits.
Co-author of the study, Dr. Shelina Visram, said that the researchers are deeply concerned by the findings that energy drinks may cause psychological stress and problems with mental health. These are important public health issues that need to be addressed.
Dr Shelina said that the time has come to take action on the rapidly expanding soft drink market.

Researchers have urged the British government to crack down on the sale of energy drinks to children under 16, as they are cheaper than water.
In the research review, scientists examined health data from 57 studies. More than 1.2 million children and adolescents from more than 21 countries participated in these studies.
Scientists in the study found that people between the ages of 18 and 35 who drank energy drinks daily had a half-hour reduction in sleep duration compared to those who never drank or drank occasionally.
Researchers have found that the more energy drinks people drink, the less sleep they get.
