Controversial Results of Inter Year 1;  College Education Inquiry Committee Active

Karachi: The “Fact Finding” Committee of the Department of College Education Sindh has started work to check the controversial results of the first annual inter-year examinations.

The committee has also requested from the Inter Board Karachi the teachers who prepared the examination papers and assessed the copies as well as the results of the Inter-Year 1 of the children of the employees of the Board who participated in the Inter-Year 1 papers in Karachi in 2023. Details of failed students in 6 major government colleges have also been sought.

Apart from further bran covid, records of pre-medical, pre-engineering and computer science group results released from year 2017 till date have also been sought. A six-member committee headed by Regional Director Karachi Professor Mustafa Kamal reached Higher Secondary Education Board Karachi on Wednesday and held a detailed meeting with Zahid Rashid, Acting Director of Examinations and other officers of the board.

Apart from Acting Secretary Inter Board, former Controller of Examination Zareena Rashid and IT Manager Shaheer Waqar also participated in the meeting. The details of “Paper Setters, Head Examiner and Examiner” should be provided and how many people are working on these three titles as retired persons and how many people belong to private sector colleges and government colleges.

The fact-finding committee further told the inter-board that, “Similarly, it should also be stated that the children of board officers and employees participated in the examinations in which the results have been disputed. It should be done and it should be told that if the children of the board officers and employees have passed in these results, in which grade they have passed, the committee will also see the copies of these children along with the failed students.

Further, the details of the ratio of results of inter-year 1st pre-medical, pre-engineering and computer science groups of the last several years have also been requested from Inter-Board Karachi and the ongoing results from the year 2017 except for the two years of covid have been requested. It is also being examined as to why centralized assessment was not conducted and under which law the head examiner allowed the examiners to take the copies home and why the board administration did not stop the teachers from doing so.

An officer involved in the meeting said that the committee has also asked for the records of the failed students of the 6 major government colleges of Karachi where the inter-year admissions are closed at A one grade. Among these colleges, DJ Science College, Adamji Science College, PECHS College, Government College SRE Majeed and Government College Malir Cantt are included here.

According to board sources, till Tuesday afternoon, the parent teacher association had not handed over the roll numbers of the 10 students to the board administration, which was assured by Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tesori and these 10 rolls Orders for detailed scrutiny of copies of students bearing numbers were given to the Commissioner Karachi.

It was also confirmed by the Regional Director Colleges that the Board has not been provided with any data for student scrutiny by the said association so far.

It should be noted that the fact-finding committee formed by Secretary College Education Sindh Sadaf Sheikh on the controversial results of the first inter-year has been activated at a time when the inter-board administration is working back and forth on the examination of these results and the Commissioner Karachi. It should be noted that 65 percent or more students have failed in the results which is the first time in the available history.
