Islamabad: The investigation of the joint inquiry team set up by the Ministry of Interior to investigate the negative campaign against the judges of the Supreme Court on social media is going on.

A 6-member joint inquiry team headed by Additional Director FIA Cyber ​​Crime Wing Waqaruddin Syed is engaged in the investigation. The JIT consists of one grade 20 each from ISI, IB and PTA, while DIG Islamabad Police and a senior officer from FIA are also included on the recommendation of the team.

The JIT is mandated to ascertain the facts behind the campaign to defame the judges of the Supreme Court and take legal action against them. The JIT will submit a detailed report to the Ministry of Home Affairs within 15 days after making recommendations to prevent such a campaign in future.

According to sources, more than 500 social media accounts running negative campaigns have been identified during the investigation of the Joint Inquiry Team so far, while the details of the accounts have also been provided to the Cyber ​​Crime Wing of the FIA, which is conducting forensic analysis of the accounts. I am busy. After the forensic analysis, notices will be issued to the account holders and they will also be summoned for inquiry in a personal capacity.

A large number of negative campaign posts were made from the accounts, with more than 250 Twitter accounts including politicians, lawyers, journalists and other social media activists. More than 250 accounts of Facebook, Instagram and Tik Tok will also be included in the negative campaign, while Mufti’s campaign includes 11 famous Tik Tokers and two models.

The negative campaigners include well-known YouTubers who upload content from foreign countries, 60 percent of the elements who run negative campaigns against judges and institutions will be involved in spreading content from foreign countries.

The senior officer says that after the completion of JIT’s findings, regular cases will be registered against the involved elements and arrests will be made after issuing notices and hearings for inquiry under PICA Act.

It should be noted that after the decision of the Supreme Court against the PTI intra-party elections, the social media is continuing to criticize judges and institutions.
