Obesity is one of the leading causes of kidney disease

Occupied Jerusalem: A new study has found that teenagers who are obese have a significantly increased risk of kidney disease.

According to media reports, according to a study published in the scientific journal ‘JAMA Pediatrics’, obesity increases the risk of kidney disease in boys by nine times and by four times in girls.

Dr. Avishai Sir, of the Hebrew University Department of Military Medicine in Israel, said the link between obesity and kidney disease is clear in young adults, while it is more likely before the age of 30.

He said that previous research had discovered a link between obesity and kidney disease in older people, but not much research had been done on the potential kidney risks of obesity at a younger age.

They also said that the analysis suggests that obesity in adulthood increases the risk of kidney disease by 1.5 to 2.7 times, even in the absence of diabetes or high blood pressure.

However, it is still unclear how excess weight affects the kidneys. This is often due to the hormonal imbalances associated with high blood pressure, high cholesterol levels and obesity.
