Karachi: 2 excavators who went down the drain to open the blocked sewage line in Gulistan-Johar drowned.
According to Express News, two scavengers drowned in Gulistan Johar Block 13 in Shahrah Faisal Thane area to open the sewage line.
SH O Shahrah Faisal Raja Tariq said that the union president of Zeeshan Apartment and Crescent View said that their sewers were blocked for the last five days and they had made several complaints on the helpline of the Water and Sewerage Board, but there was no response. As a result, the people of the neighborhood got the services of a private scavenger under your help.
He said that one sweeper fell into the sewer and slipped, to save it, the other sweeper also went into the sewer and slipped and both drowned, the name of one sweeper has been confirmed while the other has not been identified.
Faisal, sub-engineer of the Water and Sewerage Board, said that the residential apartment union had filed the complaint three days ago on Friday, as vehicles were not available for Gulistan Johar due to holidays on Saturday and Sunday.
The Water Board officials say that the residential apartment union was told in the morning that a cleaning vehicle would be provided by 2 pm.
He said that the union of the residential apartment, with his help, lowered the scavengers into the sewers and according to them, there were various gases in the sewers due to which they died.
