13 women, including Nida Dar and former international cricketer Sakhan Faiz, participated in the induction course for female umpires.
Pakistan Women’s Cricket Team captain Nida Dar and former international cricketer Sakhn Faiz were among the 13 participants who took part in the Women Umpires Induction Course which concluded today at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
The 4-day course, which began on January 13, saw 13 female participants attend basic training sessions including information on the rules of the game. On the last day, the participants took the written test and had one-on-one interviews.
ICC Elite Panel of Umpires member Ahsan Raza and PCB International Umpire Asif Yaqub were the instructors of this course.
Nida Dar, captain of the national women’s team, said on the occasion that it was a very important course as it helped me understand the rules of the game more closely.
“I wanted to be a role model for young girls and encourage them to enter the field of umpiring,” she added.
Nida Dar said that the experience shared by the elite panel of umpires in the course was very valuable and will be helpful for all of us in the future.
ICC Elite Panel Umpire Ahsan Raza said that in the 4-day course as instructors we discussed the playing conditions, rules and practical umpiring in today’s era.
He said that we conducted interactive practical sessions at the ground and the participants were given information about umpiring through video clips.
The participants of the course included Amara Khan, Ayesha Farooq, Ayesha Shakoor, Fakhira Kazmi, Asma, Nida Dar, Quratul Ain, Sania Ashraf, Shamaila Naz, Sakhn Faiz, Sameera Sajid, Zakia Gul and Zubaidah Sattar.
