In the previous hearing, the contempt of court case against the Election Commission was adjourned till January 16 and was to be heard tomorrow.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf filed a contempt of court petition against the Election Commission for non-implementation of the Peshawar High Court’s decision regarding intra-party elections and electoral symbols.
It was argued in the petition that despite the court orders, the Election Commission has not yet issued the certificate to the PTI. Despite the clear orders of the court, the parties are creating obstacles in the way of PTI’s general elections. This action of the Election Commission falls under the category of contempt of court.
It should be noted that today Tehreek-e-Insaf also withdrew the request for level playing field filed in the Supreme Court.
