Islamabad: The Election Commission has given ANP the go-ahead for the elections, along with a fine, ordering party elections to be held within 4 months.
Accepting the ANP’s request in the intra-party election case, the Election Commission has decided to give the lantern sign to Awami National Party, stating that the general election schedule has been given. Awami National Party will conduct party elections by May 10.
It should be noted that the Awami National Party has not yet conducted the intra-party election, on which the Election Commission had issued an Esfandyaroli notice. ANP had sought more respite from the Election Commission.
It should be noted that the Election Commission has also not allotted the electoral symbol to PTI on the issue of intra-party elections, while 13 other political parties have been delisted for not conducting intra-party elections. Under Sections 208, 209, 210 of the Election Act 2017, the political parties failed to conduct the elections.
