Cipher in-camera hearing declared illegal, special court's decision annulled

The Islamabad High Court declared the in-camera proceedings of the cipher case illegal and annulled the decision of the special court.

According to the details, Islamabad High Court Justice Mian Gul Hasan Aurangzeb issued a five-page written decision on the in-camera hearing of the cipher case.

In this decision, the Islamabad High Court annulled the December 14 decision of the Special Official Secrets Act court and declared all court proceedings since then illegal.

In a five-page judgment issued by Justice Mian Gul Hasan Aurangzeb, it has been said that the Official Secrets Act court issued an order for in-camera proceedings on December 14, while the Attorney General himself said during the hearing that the decision to conduct in-camera hearings was made by law. Can’t stay in sight.

The court wrote in the verdict that all proceedings in the cipher case after December 14 are illegal and have no legal status. The Attorney General also said that the government will not have any objection to the decision of the special court.
