Order to publish pictures of missing persons on social media

Karachi: The Sindh High Court has ordered the use of modern technology and broadcasting of photos on social media to recover the citizens on the requests related to the recovery of missing persons.

A two-member bench headed by Justice Nimatullah Phalphoto heard the petitions related to the recovery of missing persons. The court asked the investigating officer what steps were taken to recover the missing persons. The investigating officer said that 21 JITs and 16 provincial task force meetings have been held.

The family members said that Muhammad Zubair was missing from Baghdadi in 2014, so far no trace of him has been found.

Justice Nimatullah Phalphoto remarked that you people should not worry, we assure you that you will get justice. The family members of the other missing citizen said that Hasan Dilawar was missing from Landhi in 2015. Till now there is no information about his whereabouts and his condition.

The court inquired from the investigating officer that how many JITs have been done? The investigating officer said that 30 JITs and 12 provincial task force meetings have been held. The family of the missing citizen said that Saqib Afridi was also missing since 2015. The court asked the investigation officer what steps have been taken to recover the missing citizen.

SSP Investigation said that 22 JITs and 15 Provincial Task Force meetings have been held and the search is on.

Expressing indignation at the investigating officers, the court remarked that despite 22, 22 JITs, the missing citizens were not traced. The families of the three missing citizens told the court that Syed Naveed Ali is missing from Sahil Police Station, Zafar Iqbal from Site Super Highway and Aizaz Hassan from Nazimabad.

The High Court directed the investigating officers to continue searching for the missing citizens and to publish their photos on social media for the recovery of the missing citizens. The court ordered the use of modern technology and modern devices for the recovery of all missing citizens.

The court adjourned the hearing till February 8 while seeking a progress report from the SP investigation on the next hearing.
