The body remained at the scene for two hours
Karachi: The driver was killed when motorcycle-riding accused opened fire on a rickshaw near Sparco Road Meteorological Department Dow Hospital.
Despite making several calls to the police and the government ambulance, the body remained at the scene for two hours. The body was brought to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital by paying 1500 rupees to the private ambulance.
According to Karachi Police spokesperson, the victim was identified as 40-year-old Ghulam Yasin son of Pir Bakhsh.
Muhammad Altaf, the brother of the deceased while talking to Express, said that the deceased Ghulam Yasin was living in Jhagi on an empty plot near Golestan Johar Block 12 Manwar Chowrangi and the deceased was the father of 3 children, two girls and a boy, while his native place was Ouch Sharif District. He was from Bahawalpur.
The deceased was working as a rickshaw driver in Karachi for more than 10 years. Between Monday and Tuesday night at around 3:30, Ghulam Yasin took two vegetable sellers, Saeed Ahmed and Muhammad Sufyan, as usual from near his house to go to the new vegetable market.
Eyewitnesses, vegetable sellers, said that two accused motorcycle riders coming from the rear on Sparco Road approached the rickshaw and asked them to stop the rickshaw by showing their weapons. Fired at the rickshaw.
The bullet hit the driver’s face breaking the front glass of the rickshaw. Eyewitnesses and the victim’s brother said that after the incident, they made several calls to the police and the government ambulance, but no one came.
When I went to the nearest police station and told the duty officer, they forbade me to come, no one came for two hours after the incident, then the police came.
He said that he paid Rs 1500 to the driver of a private ambulance and shifted the body to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. According to MLO Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, the bullet entered the victim’s mouth and got stuck in the brain.
The heirs refused to conduct the post-mortem, the police handed over the body to the heirs after conducting the procedure, the deceased’s body will be taken to the native area of Ouch Sharif for burial.
Police say that the incident is due to robbery resistance or personal enmity, nothing can be said yet.
