Rapidly increasing suicide rates in the United States

Washington: A rapid increase in suicide rates has been reported among Native Americans, Red Indians, and white males.

According to new data from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), suicide rates have increased by 65 percent among Red Indian women, 35 percent among men, and 29 percent among white men.

Furthermore, among the methods of suicide, the use of weapons and hanging were the most common methods in all groups. In addition, the data also revealed an increase of almost 200 percent in the number of executions among Red Indian women.

Experts say the data show that suicide prevention strategies should be implemented across ethnically diverse populations.

Dr. Biba Dhingal, a physician at Waseda University in Tokyo, Japan and lead researcher on the aforementioned study, said the findings emphasize the urgent need to address mental health issues in the Red Indian population. They also highlight the importance of implementing community-based suicide prevention strategies.
