Karachi: The Election Tribunal allowed Tehreek-e-Insaf Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi and others to participate in the election.

Zain Qureshi from Constituency NA-214, Zain Qureshi from Constituency N-214, Haleem Adil Sheikh from Constituency N-238, Arslan Khalid from Constituency NA-241 and People’s Party candidate Akhtar Baig from Constituency NA-241 before the Election Tribunal in the Sindh High Court. Appeals against the decision were heard.

PTI leaders Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Zain Qureshi, Haleem Adil Shaikh and Arsalan Khalid were allowed to contest the elections. The tribunal gave conditional permission to Mirza Akhtar Baig of the People’s Party to contest the election from NA-241.

The Election Tribunal allowed Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi to contest the election from NA-214 Umarkot. The tribunal also approved the nomination papers of Zain Qureshi from NA-214. The Election Tribunal annulled the decision of the reviewing officer to reject the papers. The documents were rejected by the Returning Officer on submission of proof of dues.

The Election Tribunal also allowed Haleem Adil Shaikh to contest the election from NA-238. The Tribunal set aside the Returning Officer’s decision to reject the nomination papers.

The tribunal consisting of Justice Adnan Al Kareem Memon gave conditional permission to Mirza Akhtar Baig of the People’s Party to contest the election from NA 241 Constituency. The tribunal remarked that if the dual citizenship has ended, submit an affidavit. If the affidavit is found to be false, the victory will be annulled after winning the election.

The appeal of PTI candidate Arsalan Khalid from Constituency NA 241 was approved. The tribunal allowed Arsalan Khalid to participate in the election. The lawyer of the Election Commission had submitted that the Returning Officer had rejected the documents for not showing the case.
