Karachi: The Election Tribunal accepted the appeal of PTI leader Firdous Shamim Naqvi from Constituency NA 236 and approved the nomination papers.
The appeal of PTI leader Firdous Shamim Naqvi from Constituency NA 236 was heard before the Election Tribunal comprising Justice Khadim Hussain Tanyu in the Sindh High Court. The counsel for the appellant submitted that PTI’s papers were being rejected on political grounds, hence multiple papers were submitted.
Justice Khadim Hussain Tanyu told the appellant’s lawyer in a dialogue that you should not make a political speech, you should only talk about the law. The lawyer submitted that the papers were rejected due to lack of party mark.
Justice Khadim Hussain Tanio remarked that the party will decide later who will be the candidate, how were they rejected at the scrutiny stage, tell me the law under which clause the nomination papers must have electoral marks at the time of nomination? Has Tehreek-e-Insaf expressed indifference to the candidate?
The objectionable lawyer Hasan Sabir advocate stated that it is necessary to state the relationship of the party in the affidavit, which Firdous Shamim Naqvi did not do.
The Election Tribunal remarked that how do you know they are not related to PTI? The Election Tribunal accepted the appeal of Firdous Shamim Naqvi and approved the nomination papers.
