Lahore: The statistics released by the police department exposed the poor investigation system of the police, thousands of cases were dismissed due to the poor investigation system while the conviction rate remained low.
The Punjab Police Department has released statistics on investigation of cases which show that thousands of cases are dismissed and undetected due to poor investigation system. In non-traceable cases, the accused are removed from the system due to non-traceability.
Last year, more than 70,000 cases were dismissed across Punjab, while more than 31,000 cases were dismissed in Lahore alone. Similarly, more than 1 lakh 45 cases across Punjab and 70 thousand 268 cases went undetected in Lahore.
A total of more than 1 lakh 35 thousand incomplete challans were submitted in the province, while the number remained more than 22 thousand in Lahore.
In total, more than 4 lakh 10 thousand challans were submitted in Punjab and more than 13 thousand cases in the provincial capital.
According to statistics, more than 1 lakh cases are under investigation in Lahore and 3 lakh 30 thousand cases across Punjab.
In the last year 2023, the ratio of punishments across Punjab was also very low, 19 and a half thousand accused could be sentenced across the province while more than 1100 accused were sentenced by the courts in Lahore.
