Lahore: In the year 2023, Child Protection Bureau rescued 10 thousand 140 children across Punjab.
Last year 2962 children were rescued in Lahore, 1295 in Gujranwala, 1345 in Faisalabad, 1219 in Rawalpindi, 890 in Multan and 798 in Sahiwal. Similarly, 1023 children were rescued in Sialkot, 390 in Bahawalpur and 218 in Rahimyar Khan.
Child Protection and Welfare Bureau Chairperson Sara Ahmed says that 8892 children were handed over to their parents last year. During 2023, the Bureau traced more than 600 missing children to their parents, the Bureau took into custody more than 200 children who were victims of violence and abuse.
According to Sarah Ahmed, a total of 3654 calls were received on Child Helpline 1121, on which 1035 children were taken into custody. Child Protection Unit Kasur and Child Protection Unit Rajanpur were inaugurated in the year 2023.
He said that the overall performance of the Child Protection Bureau has improved during the last year, hoping that the new year 2024 will be successful for all of us.
