Karachi: Kharadar police arrested the extortionist who threatened the traders and recovered the mobile phones and visiting cards.
SHO Kharadar Abdul Rasheed Agha said that the arrested accused Faisal does not belong to any gang war or group, he is a resident of Gulistan Johar and a motorcycle mechanic and used to call businessmen for extortion on his own.
He said that the method of the arrested extortionist was that he used to go to different shops and get a visiting card from the shop after making some purchases and call the phone numbers listed on them to demand extortion from an Iranian number. He used to send messages, the police have also obtained voice records and messages from his recovered mobile phone.
The SHO further said that the arrested extortionist has so far made calls and messages to 4 to 5 businessmen for extortion, in which he demanded an extortion amount of Rs. had threatened serious consequences while the businessmen from whom extortion was demanded are the businessmen of Bolton Market.
