Karachi: During the operation against the occupation mafia in Gulshan Mimar Scheme 45, the area became a battleground due to the commotion of the angry people.
Demonstrators pelted stones on police and rangers and other government personnel, while heavy aerial firing was also done on this occasion, in which 2 young boys were injured, one of whom died during treatment. The police resorted to lathicharge and shelling to disperse the protesters, which turned the area into a battleground for several hours.
According to Express News, the anti-encroachment team conducted an operation to end encroachment of land in 5 sectors residential sector 11, 18 and 23 and commercial sector 19 and 24 of MDA under supervision scheme 45 in Gulshan Mimar, which was attacked by the agitators. Strong resistance was put up.
SSP West Mehroz Ali said that police, rangers and other government personnel were fired upon by the occupation mafia. Police used baton charge and shelling to disperse the protesters. After a fierce struggle, the encroachments were demolished. During the operation, the boy, who was injured by the firing of the occupants, succumbed to his injuries.
The rescue personnel shifted the body of the child to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where it could not be identified immediately. The age of the deceased is said to be around 9 years and the bullet on his head had passed through the other side. The condition of an unidentified 10-year-old boy who was seriously injured is also critical. The bullet that hit him on the neck had crossed from the other side.
The protesters have alleged that as a result of police firing, one boy has died and another has been seriously injured, while the police are calling the incident a result of firing by the occupiers. Till the latest information, consultations were being held regarding registering a case of the incident in Gulshan Mimar police station, after which an FIR will be registered against the perpetrators of the violation.
