The Karachi Police Chief blamed the courts for the increase in street crimes.

In a video statement, Karachi Police Chief Khadim Hussain Rand has said that the criminals are getting lesser punishments from the courts, so street crime is also increasing. A total of 79 accused have been convicted by the courts this year under the provisions of robbery.

The Karachi Police Chief said that the maximum punishment for street crime is seven years and the fine is equal to the amount of economic loss the accused caused. Unfortunately, there are 3 cases in which the sentence is one year and 50% of the cases are three months or less than one month. All these things demoralize the criminal elements.

Khadim Hussain Rand said that if the accused were sentenced to seven years, they would not commit crimes again.

He said that the bail system is such that the accused get bail easily. Criminals are getting fewer sentences from the courts and street crime is also increasing. This year, 1 thousand 19 robbers were injured while around 6 thousand robbers were arrested red-handed.
