Karachi: Four of the important project of Shahr Quaid was spared from being hit by billions of rupees.
The Rs 27 billion contract to pave the Kalri Baghar feeder, a major part of the Karachi water supply project, has revealed violations of rules, serious irregularities and awarding of favoritism to contractors. After the illegal measures came to light, the Sindh government has canceled the contract process announced by the Irrigation Department, while departmental action has also been initiated against the concerned authorities and the project director.
According to the official documents, the project was divided into 9 parts in violation of the rules in order to give the contract to the preferred contractors in the contract for the paving of four main parts of the Kalri Baghar Feeder project, on which the project director Haji Strict disciplinary action has been initiated against Khan Jamali and a show cause notice has been issued to him.
The project director has been accused of violating the law, disobeying government orders and arbitrariness, keeping international firms out of the contract process and possibly taking action by NAB to the tune of Rs 27 billion, according to official documents. The project was divided into 9 parts of Rs.3 billion.

According to the official documents, the project was announced by the chief engineer instead of the project director in violation of Sepra rules and ignoring the basic principles of transparency. He says that the contract for the most important project will be awarded soon keeping in mind the law.
