Islamabad: In the audio leaks case of former first lady Bushra Bibi and former chief Saqib Nisar’s son Najam Saqib, the Ministry of Defense submitted it to the Islamabad High Court.
In its response, the Ministry of Defense has said that there are a number of cheap tools available for recording audio from smartphones that anyone can purchase, with some platforms also offering these services for a fee.
The Ministry of Defense in its reply also clarified that the content of any voice can be altered using artificial intelligence tools. Only the social media platform can provide information about the source of the recording.
In their reply, the Ministry of Defense also stated that FIA Cybercrime Wing is the competent authority to obtain information from social media platforms under PICA 2016, requesting the court to direct FIA Cybercrime to further investigate the matter. Instructions should be issued to the wing.
In the written reply, it was also brought up that the callers can also record the calls themselves and leak them later or the phone can be hacked.
The one-page written reply of the Ministry of Defense has been submitted in the court of Justice Babar Sattar of the Islamabad High Court. The court has adjourned the hearing of the case till February 19.
