Rawalpindi: In the investigation of the fire and explosion in the underground main pipeline in Jodrian area of Sadar Baruni police station, it has been found that oil was being stolen by tampering with the 10-inch diameter pipeline of Pakistan Oilfield supplying crude oil to the oil refinery.
Pakistan Oilfield and experts have completed preliminary investigations. The accused had rented a house and dug a tunnel from inside to the main pipeline and were stealing crude oil from the pipeline through a 20 feet underground temporary pipe.
Crude oil was also stored in a tank inside the house. Sadar Baruni Police has registered a case against four named and other unknown accused including the owner of the house.
Sadar Baruni police station has filed a complaint against the owner of the house and other four named and unknown persons in the complaint of the senior executive officer of Pakistan Oilfield, Ashfaq Ali Nadeem, for tampering with the ten-inch diameter central pipeline, oil theft and other provisions. The plaintiff, Ashfaq Ali Nadeem, while filing a case with the police, said that the pipeline of the company passes through the Dhamial area where some people have made illegal constructions on the right-of-way. It was reported that a fire broke out in a house near the pipeline in Jodrian area within Sadar Baruni police station.
On reaching the spot, it was found that the accused Raja Ghulam Mustafa, Muhammad Sarfraz, Muhammad Aslam, and Sardar Tariq etc. rented a house near the pipeline and along with other unknown accused dug a tunnel from the house and the company’s 10-inch diameter pipeline. I dug into it by tampering.

The accused installed a pipe from the company’s main supply line and hid it underground and took it inside the house up to 20 feet and stole the crude oil and stored it in a tank inside the house when a sudden fire broke out and left it there and escaped.
A 20 feet pipe hidden underground, a clip attached to the line was recovered and seized.
33 barrels of crude oil stolen and stored in an underground tank inside the house were also seized by the police.
The owner of the house, Muhammad Kabir, also facilitated illegal constructions near the pipeline and gave the house to tenants for oil theft. According to the report, 316 barrels of crude oil worth more than 84 lakh rupees of the company were stolen. By adopting geofencing of the area and other procedures, the unknown accused should also be tracked down and punished.
Even before this, two cases of crude oil theft of the company have been registered in Dhamiyal police station and they should also be investigated.
Police officials said that a case has been registered against the accused under other provisions including tampering with the pipeline, stealing oil and endangering the lives of the local population. Raids are being conducted to arrest and further investigation is on.
