For the general elections 2024, 5 thousand 278 candidates from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa entered the fray, only two people from one seat in Lower Kohistan and 56 people from one seat in Upper Kohistan set two unique records.
According to Express News, 5 thousand 278 candidates from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa entered the field for the general elections 2024, 1 thousand 283 candidates for the National Assembly and 3 thousand 349 candidates for the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly submitted their nomination papers.
1 thousand 322 candidates have come forward for the general seats of the National Assembly, 39 women have submitted papers for the general seats of the National Assembly and 115 women have submitted papers for the provincial assembly.
97 women from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have submitted their papers for the seats reserved for women in the National Assembly. 321 candidates have come forward for the seats reserved for women in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, 68 men and 6 women have submitted papers for minority seats in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly.
A unique record has been set in the districts of Lower Kohistan and Upper Kohistan for the KP Assembly elections. KP Assembly seat PK-32 Lower Kohistan will have a one-to-one contest. According to the preliminary list of the Election Commission, only 2 candidates have submitted nomination papers from PK-32 Lower Kohistan.
Similarly, a maximum of 56 candidates have submitted nomination papers for one seat in Upper Kohistan.
