Landhi: A traffic officer was killed and another injured in firing at the police barracks

A traffic police constable was killed while another was injured due to firing in the police barracks in Landhi police station, the police termed the incident as accidental.

According to Express News, on Monday morning, two police constables, 30-year-old Fahmed Akhtar son of Hadi Bakhsh and 35-year-old Gul Sher son of Qoob Ahmed, were seriously injured in the firing at the police barracks located in Landhi police station in Landhi No. 4. He was shifted to Jinnah Hospital where seriously injured Traffic Police Constable Fahmed Akhtar died during treatment.

The deceased Traffic Police Constable Traffic Section Shah Faisal of Korangi District and the injured Traffic Police Constable Gul Sher Traffic Section Korangi Industrial Area posted in Korangi District.

According to SHO Landhi Shamshad Chachar, the incident of firing in the barracks happened accidentally, DSP Traffic Landhi Javed’s gunman Ali Hasan reached the barracks to go on duty after getting a 9mm pistol issue and he kept the pistol on the bed. Daya and started to change his uniform meanwhile traffic police constable Gul Sherold Qoob Ahmed who was wearing shoes in the barracks picked up his pistol and started checking.

At the same time, police constable Gul Sher was shot from which he himself was injured by a bullet in the chest and due to the bullet passing across the barracks, the traffic police constable Faheem Akhtar was sitting on a cot in the chest and he was also injured. The two officers were first shifted to Indus Hospital and later to Jinnah Hospital, where the injured Fahmed Akhtar died during treatment.

He said that the three traffic police constables are living together in the same barracks, when the incident of accidental firing took place in the barracks, the uncle of the deceased traffic police constable was also present in the barracks.

SSP Korangi Hasan Sardar, SP Korangi Traffic Section Farah Umbreen reached Jinnah Hospital after receiving the information about the incident. SSP Korangi visited the injured officer and directed to immediately shift the injured officer to a private hospital and ordered SHO Landhi to investigate the incident further.

SP Korangi Traffic Section Farah Umbreen termed the incident of shooting at the traffic policeman as a coincidence, the policeman involved in the incident, Ali Hassan, was detained and quartered while the incident is being further investigated.
