Seat adjustment in KPK: Formula fixed in JUI, ANP and PP

Peshawar: For the seat adjustment in the general elections, the initial formula was settled between JUI(F), ANP and People’s Party, according to which the three parties got the seats won in the previous elections, while the seats where the party’s candidate was the runner-up. That will be the candidate.

According to Express News, the negotiation process between the political parties for the general elections continued on Wednesday, the delegation of the People’s Party visited Bacha Khan Center Peshawar in this regard, led by the former provincial president of the People’s Party, Syed Zahir Ali Shah. While the delegation included former Speaker of the Provincial Assembly Karamatullah Chagharmati, Provincial Information Secretary Amjad Afridi, Malik Tehmash and Misbahuddin.

On the other hand, besides Senator Haji Hidayatullah, party’s Central Secretary Culture Khadim Hussain and Syed Masoom Shah were also present on behalf of ANP.

In the negotiations between the ANP and the People’s Party, it was decided that the candidates of the same party will contest the seats won by the party in the last general elections, while the candidates of the aforementioned parties will be the runners-up on the seats. The right of the party will be recognized and the same formula will be for Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam too.

However, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam is demanding to take into consideration the results of the 2019 local body elections, on which discussions and negotiations are ongoing.

Sources said that in the ongoing negotiation process among the three political parties, it was decided that the seats where the Muslim League (N) won in the last general elections or where its candidates were runners-up will be recognized. For which the negotiation process between JUI and Muslim League (N) is going on.

Sources said that the difficulties are with Qaumi Watan Party because none of its candidates won in the last general elections, however, their right will be recognized on the seats where their candidates were runners-up.

It has been informed that the process of submission of nomination papers and negotiations will continue simultaneously, however, the adjustment matters will be finalized only after the process of submission of papers, which will be jointly announced.

It is expected that there will be a negotiation meeting between the People’s Party and the Jamiat Ulema Islam on Thursday, in which the issues between the two parties will move forward.
