According to reports, the aim of scientists to create such a pacemaker is to generate fresh electrical energy. The device can regenerate about 10 percent of the energy needed to trigger another heartbeat.
In addition, this pacemaker also extends the battery life by 6 to 15 years compared to a normal pacemaker. Dr. Babak Nazir, an associate professor of medicine at the University of Washington in Seattle, says that in this pacemaker, mechanical and electrical energy are linked and can be exchanged back and forth, just as ultrasound can convert electrical voltage to pressure or sound. In the same way we can engineer implantable medical devices to extend battery life by converting the heart’s natural pressure to a lower voltage.
