Lahore: 30 eunuchs have completed reading the Holy Quran for the first time. Transgenders who completed the study of the Qur’an were given copies of the Holy Qur’an as gifts.
For the first time, Quran classes were started for the eunuch community in Johortown, Lahore. In a period of one year, 30 eunuchs completed their religious education including reciting the Holy Quran. Anusha Tahir Butt, an activist for the welfare of transgenders, started Quran classes for the transgender community.
Yesterday, a prayer ceremony was also held along with gifting the Holy Quran to the first group of transgenders who completed the study of the Holy Quran. Anusha Tahir Butt said that one of the reasons for Khwaja Sarabradari’s involvement in dancing and immoral activities is also distance from religious teachings, so they had started religious education as well as skill building for the community.
The eunuchs said that they are very happy today and consider themselves lucky to have completed the study of the Holy Quran.
