The role of the army in politics will remain intact, caretaker prime minister

In order to stop the interference of the army in government affairs, the civil institutions should be improved and not the army should be weakened, Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar said.

Islamabad: Caretaker Prime Minister Anwarul Haq Kakar has said that the role of the army in the country’s politics will continue in the near future.

While giving an interview to Turkish media TRT, Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar said that we are entering the election process, I assure that the election process will be relatively impartial and transparent in which there will be no intervention of any institution in favor of any political party. .

Asked about Imran Khan’s non-participation in the elections, Anwarul Haq Kakar said that peaceful protest is the right of all political parties, but violent protests will not be allowed.

On the possibility of constituencies being controversial, the Caretaker Prime Minister said that I am not too concerned about it, but the most important thing is that it is a constitutional requirement. There was an assembly where they could have changed the law, but no one did and we have to abide by the constitution where we are now.

Regarding the American conspiracy to topple the Imran Khan government, the Prime Minister said that these are conspiracy theories and Imran Khan himself backed away from this allegation, so how can anyone else believe in this conspiracy, as far as the caretaker government is concerned, we They ensure that no country including the US interferes in our internal affairs, the Imran Khan government was removed constitutionally, there was no military coup against them.

Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar said that I see the imbalance in the relationship between the civil government and the military in the context of the pure governance structure. If not, they blame the army for their failures and blame the imbalance in civil-military relations.

The prime minister admitted that there is an imbalance in the civil-military relationship due to the poor performance of civilian institutions in the last four decades, be it education, health, disaster management or tax collection. As a result of the challenges of bad governance, the army is the only institution with organizational capacity, so the government has to rely on the army to meet the day-to-day challenges and seek the support of the army.

He said that to solve the problem of the army not interfering in government affairs in which it should have no role, we need to improve the capacity of civil institutions, not the organizational strength of the army. should be weakened.

The anchor’s question is whether the role of the army in Pakistan’s politics will remain unchanged in the near future as a disciplined institution. In response, the Prime Minister said that practically, realistically and honestly, the answer is yes.
